One of the development teams behind Downtown Dayton’s Water Street District has announced its plans to redevelop a historic building at the corner of East Third and Madison Streets. Woodard Development says the new project will turn the empty two-story building into new office spaces. According to the Dayton Business Journal, Woodard Development anticipates that the new facility could house up to 100 jobs. At this time, no tenants for the building have been identified, but developers say the building could be a good location for a variety of industries.
“The beauty of downtown is it attracts a wide range of people,” Jason Woodard, principal and founder of Woodard Development, tells the Dayton Business Journal. “We’ve got a lot of folks in the defense sector, technology companies, professional service firms and more, and we think this will fit right in.”
The historic building is one of three along East Third Street that were purchased by Woodard Development back in 2019. The firm deemed that the other two buildings were not viable for redevelopment. The two now vacant lots will be used as parking for the revitalized building.
