Two large-scale downtown Dayton development projects have been awarded more than $4.4 million in the latest round of historic tax credits issued by the State of Ohio. The Arcade earned $2.75 million in tax credits that will go toward the Third Street Arcade phase of the project, which plans include a shopping arcade with residential apartments on the upper floors of the building.
More than $1.6 million was awarded to Woodard Development’s project at the J.K. McIntire Building at 601 E. Third St. “The Manhattan,” a $10.4 million rehabilitation project, plans to turn the historic warehouse, which has been vacant for several years, into first-floor retail space, as well as commercial tenants in the basement and on the upper floors of the building. The Manhattan is named in reference to The Dayton Project – part of The Manhattan Project – which utilized three floors of the building from 1946 to 1948.
