A nonprofit helping food-based startups is hoping to receive more funding to continue to grow. The 6888 Kitchen Incubator Project has requested funding for a commercial kitchen space in the Dayton Arcade. The space is currently under construction and would provide a space for several home-based food businesses as well as mentoring and business support for participating businesses. 6888 has already helped more than 30 food and beverage entrepreneurs after the launch of the “Sharpen the Axe” phase of the program, which provides business coaching and financial literacy to business owners. According to the Dayton Business Journal, 6888 would use the requested PDAC funding to create up to 50 new jobs while sustaining 50 permanent positions.
