Several groups located downtown are continuing their work to market Dayton as a hot-spot for visitors. The former Dayton Convention & Visitor’s Bureau recently celebrated 30 years of work bringing events, conventions, and other groups downtown with a new name – Destination Dayton. Additionally, a $45 million renovation project at the Dayton Convention Center is currently 70% finished. The work, including a variety of modernization projects and expansions, is expected to be complete in the first quarter of next year. A recent article from the Dayton Business Journal says that Montgomery County’s direct tourism sales have surpassed pre-pandemic levels with growth expected to continue.
“We’re focused not just within these walls,” Pam Plageman, executive director and CEO for Montgomery County Convention Facility Authority tells the Dayton Business Journal. “With the redevelopment of downtown Dayton and all the increased offerings across the county and the region, we’re going to be better positioned in the marketplace to attract conventions and events.”
