If you’re looking for a cup of coffee, or a breakfast or lunch in downtown Dayton, Startup Grounds is the newest option on the block. Located inside the Main Street entrance of The Hub powered by PNC Bank at 31 S. Main St., Startup Grounds is a bistro and coffee shop operated and managed by Rich Taste Catering owners Clarece and Gerald Richardson, in partnership with The Hub and the University of Dayton’s student-run Flyer Enterprises, with support from the Greater West Dayton Incubator. Open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, Startup Grounds features breakfast items, including a full coffee bar and fresh-made sandwiches and pastries, and also serves lunch with gourmet sandwiches and grab-and-go options. The bistro will be partnering with local businesses and focusing on minority-owned and woman-owned entrepreneurs. Featured vendors include downtown businesses such as desserts from Twist Cupcakery and bread baked by downtown chefs at Grist Provisions served on Startup Ground’s lunch sandwiches, Richardson said. Curbside pickup from online orders will soon be available, Richardson said, for those who want an on-the-go option. Startup Grounds is now open in a “soft opening” phase, but the grand opening and official ribbon cutting for the bistro will be on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m.
