Two New Marriott Hotels Coming to Downtown

Plans for two new downtown Dayton hotels, both bearing the Marriott brand, have been announced in just the past few weeks.

In mid-July, Concord Hospitality and the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority (MCCFA) revealed plans for the convention district’s new “headquarters hotel,” to be located adjacent to the Dayton Convention Center and Oregon District Parking Garage. The property, branded under Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio Hotel brand, will be bordered by South Jefferson, East Fifth, and Stone streets. Concord Hospitality will develop and operate the new hotel, which will include 197 guest rooms, event and meeting spaces, a fitness center, a restaurant, and other amenities for both guests and the community. The hotel is expected to open by late 2028 and create roughly 90 new permanent jobs along with more than 300 jobs related to its construction.

Late last week, developer Crawford Hoying announced it would be adding another hotel to the Water Street District. The 132-room TownePlace Suites, a Marriot extended-stay hotel brand, is planned for 125 Sears St. near The Delco, the AC Hotel, and other amenities. The hotel is expected to break ground in October and be finished in March of 2028.

“This just shows more confidence for Dayton,” Crawford Hoying principal and founder Brent Crawford told the Dayton Business Journal. “We’re hoping to inspire other people to continue to redevelop downtown. We want competition and we want other people to do these things, because in order for the city to fully recognize its full potential, we need others participating in this.”
