Two downtown businesses are now open and preparing to celebrate with their own respective grand opening ceremonies. Modern Eye, 110 E. Third St., is a local and independently owned optometry office owned by downtown resident, Elizabeth Eckhart. The practice offers comprehensive eye exams, contact lense fittings, and more with a special focus on the treatment and management of dry eye. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. on Monday, November 13.

Just a few days later, Gem City Primary Care, located inside of Talbott Tower at 118 W. First St., Ste. 800, will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new primary care facility is the only one of its kind downtown and is family-owned by Katherine Lambes, MD, and Matthew Noordsij-Jones, MD. The practice specializes in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine for the whole family. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned to begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, with an open house to follow until 5 p.m. that evening.
