Downtown Dayton is set to welcome two new businesses to the community this week as a new restaurant and a salon academy are preparing for grand opening celebrations.

The public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening for Jimmy’s Italian Cuisine & Bar at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15. This is the second location for the Kettering-based Italian eatery and the first in downtown Dayton. The restaurant has had a partial menu as part of a soft opening since the beginning of May, but plans to transition to a full menu after this week’s ceremony. Jimmy’s Italian Cuisine & Bar is owned by Mo Jusufi and his family. The restaurant is located at 824 E. Fifth St., the former site of Franco’s Ristorante, in the Oregon District.

Just a few days later at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 5 Star Salon Academy is planning its ribbon-cutting ceremony. The beauty education facility has moved its second location into 125 E. Second St. in downtown Dayton. Once open, this location will offer technical skill and business classes to local stylists and those in the beauty industry. A pop-up shop and more grand opening festivities are planned from 3 to 7 p.m. this Sunday, May 19.
